Mr Delaney Comes A'courtin'

and he wants your vote

By now you've heard of the new BC First Party. I don't know what to make of these guys. They seem to stand for everything, which usually winds up meaning they stand for nothing in particular.
I like the name. That won't surprise anyone. I like the first principle stated:

1. A BC first approach that will protect and promote the interests of British Columbia and its "citizens" (quotes mine) as the first priority.

If they mean BC's answer to the PQ, without all the socialists, great, I'm all for it.
Then they come with:

2. Limited constitutional government based on consent of the governed.
3. Government that is accountable to the people with workable Initiative, Recall and Referenda enshrined in a BC Constitution.
4. A free, open and competitive private sector as the primary engine of economic activity and growth.

Well, we were going just great until "primary engine" caught my eye. This would seem to indicate a 'mixed' economy approach, that old canerdian 'just a pinch of collectivism' thing. Mix a quart of ice cream and a pint of dog shit and the result will taste more like dog shit than ice cream. Then, blame the bad taste on the ice cream and add more dog shit ...
Same old same old.

5. A social conscience that protects the most vulnerable in society and provides care for those in need.

Oh good, they're 'compassionate'. I was frightened they might not be. /sarc

6. A universal health care system that is efficient, affordable and of the highest quality.

They can make that work at last. Uh huh.

7. A world class education system that is accessible, affordable and respects diversity.

See above. And you gotta love the 'diversity' bit. If by 'love' we mean 'feel faintly nauseated by.'

8. Fiscally responsible government that lives within its means.

No problem, aside from 5, 6, and 7 above making that impossible. Really. Sounds good. *snort*
Not a great first impression I'm afraid. We'll see. Heaven knows I'm desperate for an alternative.

Idiots, Useful and Otherwise

" ... And now let's really hear it for those two giants of sanity - Mr John "Ozzie" "Frybrain" Osbourne and the Ayatollah's pal - Steven Cat Yusuf Georgiou Stevens Islam - who hasn't burned Salman Rushdie or stoned any women to death for adultery - yet - as far as I know - but hey - the day's not over - right, Yo? We'll see what we can do for ya! ..."

Yes, This Is About Islam

By SALMAN RUSHDIE
November 2, 2001

LONDON -- "This isn't about Islam." The world's leaders have been repeating this mantra for weeks, partly in the virtuous hope of deterring reprisal attacks on innocent Muslims living in the West, partly because if the United States is to maintain its coalition against terror it can't afford to suggest that Islam and terrorism are in any way related.
The trouble with this necessary disclaimer is that it isn't true. If this isn't about Islam, why the worldwide Muslim demonstrations in support of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda? Why did those 10,000 men armed with swords and axes mass on the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, answering some mullah's call to jihad? Why are the war's first British casualties three Muslim men who died fighting on the Taliban side?
Why the routine anti-Semitism of the much-repeated Islamic slander that "the Jews" arranged the hits on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, with the oddly self-deprecating explanation offered by the Taliban leadership, among others, that Muslims could not have the technological know-how or organizational sophistication to pull off such a feat? Why does Imran Khan, the Pakistani ex-sports star turned politician, demand to be shown the evidence of Al Qaeda's guilt while apparently turning a deaf ear to the self-incriminating statements of Al Qaeda's own spokesmen (there will be a rain of aircraft from the skies, Muslims in the West are warned not to live or work in tall buildings)? Why all the talk about American military infidels desecrating the sacred soil of Saudi Arabia if some sort of definition of what is sacred is not at the heart of the present discontents?
Of course this is "about Islam." The question is, what exactly does that mean? After all, most religious belief isn't very theological. Most Muslims are not profound Koranic analysts. For a vast number of "believing" Muslim men, "Islam" stands, in a jumbled, half-examined way, not only for the fear of God — the fear more than the love, one suspects — but also for a cluster of customs, opinions and prejudices that include their dietary practices; the sequestration or near-sequestration of "their" women; the sermons delivered by their mullahs of choice; a loathing of modern society in general, riddled as it is with music, godlessness and sex; and a more particularized loathing (and fear) of the prospect that their own immediate surroundings could be taken over — "Westoxicated" — by the liberal Western-style way of life.
Highly motivated organizations of Muslim men (oh, for the voices of Muslim women to be heard!) have been engaged over the last 30 years or so in growing radical political movements out of this mulch of "belief." These Islamists — we must get used to this word, "Islamists," meaning those who are engaged upon such political projects, and learn to distinguish it from the more general and politically neutral "Muslim" — include the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the blood-soaked combatants of the Islamic Salvation Front and Armed Islamic Group in Algeria, the Shiite revolutionaries of Iran, and the Taliban. Poverty is their great helper, and the fruit of their efforts is paranoia. This paranoid Islam, which blames outsiders, "infidels," for all the ills of Muslim societies, and whose proposed remedy is the closing of those societies to the rival project of modernity, is presently the fastest growing version of Islam in the world.
This is not wholly to go along with Samuel Huntington's thesis about the clash of civilizations, for the simple reason that the Islamists' project is turned not only against the West and "the Jews," but also against their fellow Islamists. Whatever the public rhetoric, there's little love lost between the Taliban and Iranian regimes. Dissensions between Muslim nations run at least as deep, if not deeper, than those nations' resentment of the West. Nevertheless, it would be absurd to deny that this self-exculpatory, paranoiac Islam is an ideology with widespread appeal.
Twenty years ago, when I was writing a novel about power struggles in a fictionalized Pakistan, it was already de rigueur in the Muslim world to blame all its troubles on the West and, in particular, the United States. Then as now, some of these criticisms were well-founded; no room here to rehearse the geopolitics of the cold war and America's frequently damaging foreign policy "tilts," to use the Kissinger term, toward (or away from) this or that temporarily useful (or disapproved-of) nation-state, or America's role in the installation and deposition of sundry unsavory leaders and regimes. But I wanted then to ask a question that is no less important now: Suppose we say that the ills of our societies are not primarily America's fault, that we are to blame for our own failings? How would we understand them then? Might we not, by accepting our own responsibility for our problems, begin to learn to solve them for ourselves?
Many Muslims, as well as secularist analysts with roots in the Muslim world, are beginning to ask such questions now. In recent weeks Muslim voices have everywhere been raised against the obscurantist hijacking of their religion. Yesterday's hotheads (among them Yusuf Islam, a k a Cat Stevens) are improbably repackaging themselves as today's pussycats.
An Iraqi writer quotes an earlier Iraqi satirist: "The disease that is in us, is from us." A British Muslim writes, "Islam has become its own enemy." A Lebanese friend, returning from Beirut, tells me that in the aftermath of the attacks on Sept. 11, public criticism of Islamism has become much more outspoken. Many commentators have spoken of the need for a Reformation in the Muslim world.
I'm reminded of the way noncommunist socialists used to distance themselves from the tyrannical socialism of the Soviets; nevertheless, the first stirrings of this counterproject are of great significance. If Islam is to be reconciled with modernity, these voices must be encouraged until they swell into a roar. Many of them speak of another Islam, their personal, private faith.
The restoration of religion to the sphere of the personal, its depoliticization, is the nettle that all Muslim societies must grasp in order to become modern. The only aspect of modernity interesting to the terrorists is technology, which they see as a weapon that can be turned on its makers. If terrorism is to be defeated, the world of Islam must take on board the secularist-humanist principles on which the modern is based, and without which Muslim countries' freedom will remain a distant dream.

Afghan Democracy Update

Afghanistan should have been nuked pt MCXXXVIII

"KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban on Sunday ordered their first public executions by stoning since their fall from power nine years ago, killing a young couple who had eloped, according to Afghan officials and a witness. ...

Mr. Khan estimated that about 200 villagers participated in the executions, including Khayyam’s father and brother, and Siddiqa’s brother, as well as other relatives ...

“People were very happy seeing this,” Mr. Khan maintained, saying the crowd was festive and cheered during the stoning. ..."

Always remember, folks, NATO troops are dying and your taxes are paying to bring the light of civilization to the Afs, a fool's errand since Alexander.

Its That Pakistan, Right?

There's only the one, isn't there?

That would be the Pakistan which is "supporting the Taliban with training, cash and sanctuary".

That would be the Pakistan where 9/11 was celebrated in the streets.

That Pakistan.

So far, Fearless Leader Harpo has pledged 31 million of our dollars to people who are helping kill NATO soldiers in Afghastlystan. Taliban Jack and Count Iggy Wormtongue don't figure that's enuff even.
Even by canerdian standards, this is either epic dhimmitude, epic stupidity or a special blend of both.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's high commissioner wants everyone to forget about the Taliban and buy into the "Moderate Muslims" BS.
"He also said the government of Pakistan is "fully focused and able to reach out to its own people."

Good, let the government of Pakistan "reach out" and take care of its own.
The rest of us can reach out to the PMO

pm@pm.gc.ca

and tell them to let Pakistan know the check is in the mail.

Oh, the Tolerance, the Acceptance!

I have a feeling someone is going to get their ass handed to them.

The redoubtable Alex G Tsakumis, who, unlike the complicit buggy-whip media, provided his readers with full, unflinching coverage of, and courageous commentary on, the public obscenity known as the Vancouver Pride Parade reports he has received "two very threatening emails from someone commenting on the ‘Pride Parade’ post (he) did last week." "This particular person has made statements about me that are entirely manufactured to injure", Tsakumis writes, "and then followed up with significant threats." He has, naturally, contacted police.

Your correspondent, while disgusted of course, cannot feign surprise I'm afraid. This is just the latest example of words like "tolerance" and "acceptance" (big, big buzzwords of Vancouver "Pride") being mouthed by people who, at the slightest resistance to their agenda, reveal themselves as far from tolerant and accepting, even of people who object to adults simulating group sex acts and wandering about naked in public streets in front of children.

Whether its baying mobs of "students" chasing libertarian and conservative speakers from university campuses, or this sort of thing, whenever the smiley-face mask slips a bit and the true face of what Kathy Shaidle has so rightly dubbed the Tyranny of Nice is revealed, it truly is very, very ugly indeed.

Oh, and don't forget the sponsors of this sickening public display.

Another One Bites The Dust

Wilbert "Peaches" Bartley's criminal career is finally over

This charming piece of work will rob no more, not, of course, through any actions of Canerduh's "justice" system but because he pushed his luck too far and got his head blown off by cops.

Removing the running sore of Bartley's existence from society has naturally been met with weeping and gnashing of teeth in the sunset media, who've never met a criminal they didn't excuse as the victim of something or other.

The Province, for example, had to tag their bit of drivel with the sub-head "Was turning life around, says mother". At 50? With a record as long as your arm? Right.

Actually, this prize of a mother's comments are all too revealing of where something like "Peaches" originates.

"“My son might have been in a lot of trouble but, damn it, he had to be. He had no way of living,” she said, adding that Bartley did not have a job and suffered neck and head problems from a decade-old brawl."

Of course, what else would a mother advise? Can't work? You'd better steal, Son. See about peddling some crack and some meth too.

"Between tears, Catherine (notice the first name treatment) shared a piece of advice she had given Bartley, worried about the son who already had too many brushes with police."

"Brushes with police"? Oh, please.

But anyway, did Mum plead with Peaches to go straight?

"“I told him never to run because they’ll kill him,” she said."

Mother of the Year candidate, n'est pas?

As I've mentioned before, I've not noticed any shortage of assholes, imported (Peaches was from Upper Canerduh) or otherwise. If his fate deters just one of them from victimizing someone, Peaches will prove more use dead than he ever was alive.

Gordie and the Weather Tax

Apologies to Plautus and Terence

While personally, I’ve never been entirely convinced that every single cloud has a silver lining, there’s no denying most seem to and indeed, sometimes it’s some of the darkest.

Take the HST (- please! Yeah, I’m sorry, I know -I am taking it, thanks, Dave. Right up the wazoo. Don’t make it worse with the Henny Youngman, please already.)

Its true that Gordie Campbell and his branch of the Librano$ have gone right off the top board poll-wise of late. If this keeps up, BC Libs will find themselves jostling for space in the trash can of history with the likes of the Progressive Conservatives and the BC Socreds (oh, the rich, dripping irony of the Zalm being the hero of the anti-HST Resistance).

And its no doubt true they’ve more than earned their current predicament, the HST being but one of a by now all-too-familiar litany of lies. I doubt Gordie would give me the time of day but if he did, I wouldn’t believe him anyway.

Strange to contemplate then that it could all be worse for the Campbell Crew.

How, you ask?

Consider: lost in the uproar of the Hated Sales Tax’s July oneth launch was the latest ratcheting up of what could be called the Gaians’ Carbon Myth Tax, based as it is on their belief that C02 is a sort of toxin in the atmosphere, rather than something that makes green things grow. You know, an irrational belief instead of something based on actual science.

So much for keeping religion out of government, but I suppose its all a matter of whose religion is involved.

And, of course, unless you have been residing in a convent or depending solely on the sunset media for information, I don’t have to remind you of what the term “Climategate” refers to (myself, I prefer Climatequiddick) but let me remind you of this:

The government of BC continues to lighten your wallet on the basis of a complete fraud. And every year they’re going to grab more.

And how big a noise has there been? –cue: crickets …

Fortunately, in this day and age of the intrawebs and all that, we plebs can turn some heat on Gordie and Friends without waiting for the sunset media (hold not thy breath, ‘cause those hard nosed pros would have to fess up to having been sucked right in like suckers and that would suck, right?).

Think of it as forming up a virtual baying mob complete with torches, pitchforks, all that.

Here’s where email we’re supposed to believe Campbell reads goes:

premier@gov.bc.ca

Demand this BS tax be eliminated forthwith on pain of electoral consequences - i.e No vote for you!

If an email poo storm hits that address it won’t matter who’s there to receive, the message will be passed upwards.

And be sure to raise hell with the rest of the Lieberal caucus. If you live in one of the 24 constituencies where recall campaigns will be getting underway, remind “your” MLA of the bullseye on their back.

Gordie’s crew must be frantic to save their phony baloney jobs. They have to be convinced their only hope is to dump Campbell, both these taxes and hope the voters will forgive.
Its time to really tighten the screws on 'em.

Pelalusa on the Dennis Miller Show

And he does an outstanding job of it. Well done, Robert.

"… 15 years in a re-education camp. Mister In North Burnaby was convicted in Human Rights Court of blogging inappropriate opinions on a number of protected diversity traditions including child marriage, honor killings and donkey shows.”

“and - coming up after the break:

are earthquakes the work of djinns, or a sign of Gaia’s wrath? Shaykh Ahmad Shehab and David Suzuki will be here with guidance

then – the Ministry of Healthy Living is revising the eating regulations - what that will mean for your family’s mealtimes

all that and Fatima will have the weather and Ali will have another live report from the Hajj

stay tuned …”

See If This Sounds Familiar

"Almost every post-war Tory victory had been won on slogans such as 'Britain Strong and Free' or 'Set The People Free'. But in the fine print of policy, and especially in government, the Tory Party merely pitched camp in the long march to the left. It never seriously tried to reverse it. ... We boasted of spending more money than Labour, not of restoring people to independence and self-reliance. The result of this style of accomodationist politics, as my colleague Keith Joseph complained, was that post-war politics became a 'socialist ratchet' - Labour moved Britain towards more statism; the Tories stood pat; and the next Labour Government moved the country a little further left. The Tories loosened the corset of socialism; they never removed it."

Where There Is No Law Enforcement

Frontier Justice will fill the void.

Here, in microcosm, is what the Trudeaupian approach to crime and punishment has achieved in forty years: a drunken, seventeen year-old vandal out trashing cars is shot dead by a "known gang associate" at 3:15 am.

At 17, Adem Aliu would have known that he had, for 3 years, been considered sufficiently mature under Canerdian law to have sex with Swipe Robinson, but not to be held responsible for crimes. Indeed, he is being described by (*sigh*) RCMP (when will we be rid of them?) as having behaved "like a stupid child." Uh, no, stupid child is sticking chewing gum on the underside of the school desk, Dudley. Put the donut down and try again, 'This sort of thing can happen if you engage in high-risk criminal behaviors'. Something like that.

Predictably, the tributes are pouring in for the dead punk drunk. He's been described as "the nicest guy" by his friend, Ernest Giundza. One wonders how Aliu might have expressed his gratitude for and appreciation of being allowed to come here from the pest-hole known as Albania if he weren't such a "nice guy."
"Every time you needed help, he was always there." Does that mean Aliu was always there to help Giundza destroy other people's property? By holding his drink, perhaps? "He would do anything for you." Except not trash your car. "Giundza said that as far as he knew, Adem wasn't mixed up in drugs." Doesn't alcohol count?

Note how the Global report keeps using the first name. Why not call him "Poor little Adem" and be done with it?
Seventeen year olds pretended they were older so they could go off and fight Hitler not that awfully long ago. How times have changed.
And how screwed up have things become when a waste of skin like this rates a Facebook tribute page?

Personally, I've not noticed any shortage of assholes, imported or otherwise, and if some of Aliu's currently surviving pals get to "thinking" (to whatever degree they may be capable) that they could get plugged next, perhaps they'll mind their manners. If that's what it takes, then so be it, because officialdumb ain't gonna do SFA.

Happy Canerduh Day, BC!!

Hey, BC, you sure love Canada don't you? Yeah, wave that flag.

So your kid can't grow up to be Prime Minister
or a Supreme Court Justice

So your vote is worth a steadily diminishing fraction of that of someone in Lower Canerduh and the Welfare Provinces and the "federal" election is over by the time the polls close here

So the Senate is stacked against BC even worse than the House of the Common People is

So you pay sky high prices for gas from BC and Alberta oil to subsidize lower gas prices in Upper and Lower Canerduh and the Welfare Provinces

So BC's shipbuilding industry has been moved to Quebec;
paid for by you

So billions of tax dollars you send east every year nets BC all of the above plus the finger from Trudeau, lies from Mulroney, snotty remarks from Chrétien ...
and so on and on

So what?

You love Canada

Cause Mr HST's endorsement is good enuff for you, right?

Muslim Primitives On Warpath Over Cartoon - Again

Holy Mo-ly! More Muslim death threats?!

Members of the murder/child rape cult known as Islam have threatened the producers of South Park for not showing sufficient respect to the pedophile mass murderer whose psychotic ravings they revere. This would add two to the growing list of artists murdered over Islam. Can we all agree now that Muslims are incompatible with Western Civilization and must be removed toot sweet?

Mrs Obama Spills the Beans

His "home country", Mrs O? Gee, that's just what his Granny was saying (until she got told to shut up).
I can't wait for Chris Matthews to denounce M.O. as a racist wackjob "Birther" who thinks the Chosen One can be carded like a mere mortal.
On the other hand, this could just be a case of an incredibly intelligent and articulate product of Affirmative Action not knowing what "home country" means.

With Conservatives Like This ... ?

Yet more taxpayers' money for Own The Podium (aka circuses)
An increase in the tax advantage enjoyed by irresponsible breeders
No end to the Hitlerian "hate speech" laws and the Star Chambers that enforce them
And yet more impoverishment of the People and damage to the economy in the name of saving Gaia from Maurice Strong and Paul Ehrlich, er, I mean, the weather.

Perhaps when the Liberals finally dump Count Iggy they won't have to look too far for a replacement. This guy has "Natural Governing Party du Canerduh" written all over him.
In the end, he's just another guy from toronto.

Not With A Bang ...

" … Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses "
(Juvenal, Satire 10.77–81)
